    Leaning Tower Of Britten

    Leaning Tower Of Britten

Originally a functional water tower located just outside of Groom, Texas. The leaning tower of Britten was slated for demolition when Ralph Britten re-purposed it to be used as a road-side oddity that promoted his now abandoned truck stop along an old section of Route 66.

    Steampunk Oklahoma

    Steampunk in Oklahoma

Steampunk Oklahoma – abandoned thresher An old steampunk and steam-powered thresher sits where it was last used in a remote field in rural Oklahoma. There were actually three of these threshers here, all of them from a model year or two difference. This makes for a great steampunk oklahoma time machine! I became fascinated with …

Cogar Oklahoma The small town of Cogar Oklahoma was established in 1902 and sits in an unincorporated area in Caddo County. Cogar lost it’s post office in 1954 and has been dead ever since. In 1988, the town made a huge, but short, resurgence in relevance when a scene from the movie “Rain Man” starring …

    Peeping Tom

    Peeping Tom

Believe it or not, this is an old abandoned mining shack. I just really liked the way the windows which are boarded up with metal, reflected light. The shadow silhouette was made by me, much the same as you would make animals with your hands on the wall.

    Victory In Chaos

This very old mine and accompanying support structure has seen better days. I’m not sure how much longer this thing will be standing, but it’s beauty (and treachery) is evident most at night.

    Moon Flowers

    Moon Flowers

These are part of a road-side art display outside of a little town in North Texas. To this day, nobody knows who the actual artist is. These “Moonflowers” are actually old Pratt Whitney engines from an airplane, mounted on old oil field pipes. I’d shot this scene a few times but I’ve always had very …

    Victory

    Victory

Remnants of America’s greatest gold mines, sit high in the Rocky Mountains. It’s amazing at how well preserved these sites are. Abandoned things in the mountains tend to be much more intact than things in other areas, especially Texas and New Mexico.
