Broken Dreams on Route 66
This is an abandoned motor lodge right on the old section of Route 66 near the Oklahoma/Texas border. This used to be quite the roadside attraction back in the day but now it sits as yet another ghostly reminder of the demise of the original Route 66 as the new Interstate 40 slowly replaced it.

Plymouth
Abandoned in a field in rural North Texas, this Plymouth sits quietly awaiting for a day when it might roam the highways again. Unfortunately, with the harsh conditions in this area, it’s only a matter of time until this beauty disappears forever.

God’s Drive-in
These were two abandoned Volkswagen Bugs that I found out in a field. I was amazed by the great condition they were in and under the amazing skies that night, I felt like I was in an old drive-in movie theater.

Death and Taxes
Death and Taxes, both are unavoidable. I found this home outside of a very small ghost town south of Abilene and I knew when I found it, that it would make for a striking image telling a story of the dreams lost out on the plains of America. This is perhaps one of my most [...]

High Five
The interchange of the I635 and I75 is often referred to as the “High Five”. The interchange comprises 37 bridges distributed across 5 levels (thus the name “High Five”), with the highest ramps 120 feet above ground. This was shot at about 10 p.m. at night and there was still plenty of traffic to capture here. In [...]

Peggy Sue
A restored gas station in Dennison, TX makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

Cruisin’
During Cruisin’ the Coast, this is a very common sight all along the coast highway. If anyone can identify all of the vehicles, let me know, or post in the comments. Thanks!

From another time
This was like it was staged for a night shot already, when I got there. I couldn’t believe the scene was so perfect, yet ruined by bright white light from behind the camera to the right. I thought of a few ways I could minimize this and in the end, I tried to use this [...]

Breakdown
This was shot about 8 p.m. on a very cold evening in early December. Because there was a town over the hill in the background, the light pollution actually helped light this shot. I also used nearby passing cars to add a visual element in the left of the composition since again, this is so [...]

Passed by time
This was perhaps my favorite shot of several I took at this location. I was battling some very offensive, bright white light pollution, but I ended up using the car headlights and the white light, to it’s benefit. In this case, it gives a very otherworld feel to the image and I think tells a [...]
